$95.7 billion – that’s the amount requested in President Trump’s budget request for IT – a $1.7 billion increase from this year. Against the backdrop of major proposed belt tightening across most Federal programs, this growth speaks volumes to tech’s potential to lead us forward in innovation, productivity, and security.
From FITARA and FedRAMP, to the Cybersecurity Executive Order and Modernizing Government Technology (MGT) Act, these are interesting times, with big implications for government IT. Of course, there is still much uncertainty – we have no Federal CIO, many appointed positions remain unfilled, and we don’t know what the Federal budget will look like once approved. But, it’s safe to say that continued investment in modernization and innovation will be a cornerstone of our country’s path forward.
As marketers, how can we make sense of these issues and make a real impact with programs that resonate? We at the GovMark Council are launching a new blog and lunch series to examine this core question and provide regular, real, practical advice for cutting through the noise. On the blog, our leaders will share their experience and perspectives on thought leadership, customer engagement, event management, government ethics, the new PR, and much more.
Our lunch series kicks off next month with our “Facts are the New Black” event. Please join us on July 13 at the Tower Club in Tysons for lunch and conversation around today’s content marketing mix.
Our new lunch events are shorter than the traditional GovMark events. They’re designed with your busy schedule in mind – to provide fun, networking, education, and best- practice sharing opportunities. At the very least, you need to eat, so come enjoy lunch on us, and chat with your peers in this space. We look forward to seeing you at lunch and to continuing the conversation here on the site.
