Vice President, Communications
Northrop Grumman Information Systems
Cheryl Janey is vice president of Communications for Northrop Grumman's Information Systems (IS) sector. In this role, she leads the sector's integrated communications activities, which include strategic communications and outreach, public and media relations, marketing communications, internal communications, and executive communications.
Most recently, Ms. Janey served as vice president, Operations, in the IS sector's Civil Systems division, where she was responsible for helping achieve the division's financial growth and operational objectives and for ensuring organizational alignment.
Prior to that, Ms. Janey was president of Civil Programs for Harris Corporation. In this capacity she successfully grew the Civil Programs organization by more than 25 percent, supporting customer agencies and programs that include the Military Health System, the Census Bureau, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Ms. Janey previously held leadership positions over nearly six years at Northrop Grumman's former Information Technology sector, including vice president, Marketing and Business Development with the Commercial, State & Local business group and vice president, State & Local Solutions operating unit.
She has nearly 30 years of industry and leadership experience. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, she was vice president, Marketing and Business Development, State and Local Government Solutions for American Management Systems. She has also held leadership positions with Unisys Corporation, SCT Corporation, Interactive Data Corporation, and IBM.
Ms. Janey is a member of the Potomac Officer's Club, Women in Technology, and the GovMark Council. She also serves on the executive advisory board of the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority, TechAmerica Public Sector board of directors, and is a past board member of the Virginia High-Tech Partnership. She is a recipient of many awards and recognitions including Career Communications Group’s Women of Color Technology and Business President's Award, in recognition of high merit, broad effect on people in many disciplines, and achievements of significant value.
She earned her bachelor's degree in design from Carnegie Mellon University and has done postgraduate study at the University of Pittsburgh and the Darden School of the University of Virginia.
